TRANSCRITICAL CO2 REFRIGERATION SYSTEM

is a type of refrigeration system that uses CO2 as the refrigerant where the ultimate heat rejection to ambient air can take place above the critical point.

TRANSCRITICAL MODE is a system operating condition for a refrigeration system wherein the refrigerant pressure and temperature leaving the compressor is such that the refrigerant is at or above the critical point. Typically used in reference to CO2 refrigeration systems.

SUBCRITICAL MODE is a system operating condition for a refrigeration system wherein the refrigerant pressure and temperature leaving the compressor is such that the refrigerant is below the critical point. Typically used in reference to CO2 refriger0ation systems.
